AFNOR, an ISO certification body in France and widely recognized European accreditation body of food safety detection methods, has issued NF Validations in accordance with ISO standard 16140-2 for two BAX® System Real-Time PCR assays.

The certification of the following assays demonstrates that the BAX® System rapid microbiological methods performed equivalent or better than the ISO reference method for detecting pathogens in all human (non-animal feed) food products and industrial production environmental samples:

  • BAX® System Real-Time PCR assay for Listeria monocytogenes
  • BAX® System Real-Time PCR assay for Genus Listeria

The BAX® System Real-Time PCR assay for Salmonella was also renewed for detecting Salmonella sp. in all human food products (excluding milk powder), pet food and production environmental samples.

“These certifications from AFNOR, which are recognized internationally, emphasizes the ability of our BAX PCR assays to detect potentially pathogenic bacteria in food and environmental samples with performance equal to or better than the ISO reference method,” says Ed Luterbach, chief commercialization officer at Hygiena. “These certifications are backed up by independent studies that have demonstrated the effectiveness of the BAX® System in a variety of facilities and situations.”
