IEH Laboratories & Consulting Group (IEH) has announced that Donald Zink has join the organization as president of the Division of Foods and Regulatory Compliance. Zink is a valued and long-time member of Food Safety Magazine’s Editorial Advisory Board.

In his new role, Zink will be responsible for providing consulting services and supporting IEH’s clients to promote product safety. His vast experience will provide clients with insight into matters of regulatory compliance.

Zink has been an integral part of the global food safety industry for over 30 years and has an extensive background in overseeing food safety programs in various food manufacturing operations. He began his professional career as a professor in microbiology at Texas A&M University and as a professor in microbiology, immunology and food science at the University of Arizona. Zink worked for Campbell Soup Company as a manager of process microbiology and for Nestle, where he worked in quality assurance for the Carnation Company and served as director of food safety for Nestle USA. Prior to joining IEH, Zink was employed as a senior food scientist with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 2002 and served as the senior science advisor for the FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition.

Zink has presented as a keynote speaker and advised numerous national and international organizations on domestic and international concerns regarding food safety, the outbreak of foodborne illness and recalls. He is the past president of the International Association for Food Protection. He is currently a certified food scientist with the International Food Science Certification Commission and a certified HACCP instructor by the International HACCP Alliance. Finally, Zink is the author of over 35 peer-reviewed scientific publications in the field of food safety.
