Mann Packing Company, headquartered in Salinas, CA, has issued yet another recall of various vegetable products sold to a number of U.S. and Canadian-based retailers. The affected products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The company also issued similar recalls in 2017 and 2018. Mann was acquired by Del Monte Fresh Produce in 2018.

Mann’s 2019 Recall
Mann’s most recent recall, issued out of an abundance of caution, was issued in response to a notification from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. The recalled products such as broccoli, carrots, kale, and cauliflower, have a “Best If Enjoyed By” date of October 11, 2019 to November 16, 2019. Affected brands include HEB, Kroger Organic, US Foods, Trader Joes, Del Monte, and more. A full list of the U.S. recalled products, as well as the affected products in Canada, are both available on Mann Packing’s website. Consumers who believe that they are in possession of any of the products affected by this recall should dispose of the product in an appropriate waste container. For any inquiries or comments, all consumers are welcome to call the 24-hour customer service line at 1-844-927-0707 or email Mann Packing Co., Inc. at consumers@mannpacking.com. No illnesses have been reported in connection to this latest recall. Mann is continuing to work with authorities to investigate the problem.

Mann’s 2018 Recall
In early 2018, Mann Packing voluntarily recalled over 200 cases of organic vegetable snacking trays—served with organic ranch dip—due to a mislabeling issue. The product contained eggs milk, soy, and mustard—ingredients that were not listed on the label. The product was shipped to retail locations in Florida, Minnesota, New York, Iowa, and Texas. At the time the recall was issued, no illnesses had been reported in association with the recall.

Mann’s 2017 Recall
In October 2017, Mann voluntarily recalled some minimally processed vegetable products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The products, some sold at HEB, Trader Joe’s, and Walmart, were distributed throughout the U.S. and Canada. The recall was prompted by a single positive test result during random sampling conducted by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. In a statement at the time, Gina Nucci, who was Mann’s director of corporate marketing, said, “As an owner of this company and a mom, providing safe and healthy foods to our consumers and their families is always our top priority. This voluntary recall is a reflection of our commitment to ensuring the safety of our consumers.” At the time of the recall, no illnesses had been reported in connection to the recalled products.
