Robert Mills, an experienced food safety and quality expert, recently joined GlobalG.A.P. North America as vice president, technical services and training. G.A.P. stands for Good Agricultural Practice, and Baltimore-based GLOBALG.A.P. is the worldwide standards organization that assures Good Agricultural Practice.

Mills has worked in the food industry since 1969, specializing in food safety, quality assurance, and microbiology. He has a wide range of experience, having worked in the restaurant, dairy, canned meat, dressing and snack foods industries. He transitioned to the produce industry in 2006 when he joined Tanimura & Antle Inc. as director of food safety and quality assurance. Most recently, Mills was at Misionero Vegetables, where he began working as the director of technical services in 2009.

Mills contributed to development of the Leafy Greens Marketing Association in California and Arizona and continues to serve on both technical boards today. He is also involved in multiple committees of the United Fresh Produce Association. He has a master's degree in agriculture from the University of Minnesota–St. Paul and bachelor’s degrees in microbiology and zoology from the University of Minnesota–Minneapolis.
