Earlier this month, members from Q Laboratories, Inc.’s research and development team attended the AOAC International Board of Directors Meeting in Rockville, MD. While there, the team presented three AOAC Official Methods of Analysis Collaborative Study Manuscripts for approval to the Expert Review Panel for Microbiology for Food and Environmental Surfaces.

The review panel adopts methods as what’s known as “Official First Action”. These methods are maintained and monitored for two years until “Final Action” consideration. Over those two years, the review panel assesses the performance of methods against current standards, ultimately suggesting recommendations on the method’s status.

The three manuscripts submitted by Q Laboratories included:

  • 3M™ Petrifilm™ Rapid Yeast and Mold Collaborative Study
  • Evaluation of the 3M™ Molecular Detection Assay (MDA) Listeria for the Detection of Listeria Species
  • Evaluation of the 3M™ Molecular Detection Assay (MDA) Listeria Monocytogenes for the Detection of Listeria monocytogenes
