Food Safety Innovation Nation

The U.S. Army – Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC) in Natick, MA is doing as much innovation as it can, creating novel technologies for soldiers in areas such as food safety, sanitation and portable sterilization and enzymatic polymerization of natural compounds for applications in food antioxidants, anticancer drugs and flame-retardant materials. In 2012, NSRDEC patented 20 different technological advancements for the Army, led by scientists such as Institute of Food Technologists Nonthermal Processing Division Past-Chair Christopher Doona, Nicole Favreau Farhadi and Ferdinando Bruno.
