R-Biopharm has introduced a rapid test that works on an antigen-antibody reaction principle and can detect minute amounts of peanut content in food products in approximately 40 minutes. The RIDA Quick assay can detect the presence of peanut proteins in amounts as low as 5 parts per million, and deliver results for even complex food products, such as pastries. The entire test, from preparation to results, takes less than 40 minutes, and results are confirmed visually by a blue band appearing in the cassette. Higher levels of peanut protein are indicated by darker blue results. Peanuts are among the most ubiquitous and dangerous allergens, and a leading cause of expensive recalls in the food industry.
